Jean Davis

August 9, 1927 — October 13, 2023

Jean Davis, 96, of Vincennes, IN passed away October 13, 2023. She was born August 9, 1927, in Decker, IN to the late John and Vietta (Heacock) Johnson. Jean married the love of her life, Billy Davis, on June 8, 1946. She attended Decker High School and was a graduate of the 1945 class. Jean continued her education at Vincennes University, where she graduated in 1960, and was awarded the Florence Nightingale Award. She worked at Dr. Spencer's office as a registered nurse for 18 years and continued her career with being an examiner for insurance companies and Private Duty Nursing. Jean was a member of the Community Methodist Church and the Crusaders Sunday School Class.


In her free time, Jean enjoyed spending time with her family, cooking, baking, and reading. She was a true master of the kitchen and always made the best food.


Jean was preceded in death by her parents; husband; siblings Doris (Earl) McCormick, Dot (Morris) Elmore, Emma Jewel (Bill) Purcell, Carl (Margaret) Johnson, Pascal "Peck" (Leona) Johnson, Carol (Albert) Burkhart, June (Bill) Mickey.


She is survived by her children Janet (David) Michel, Dottie (Bill) Parten, David (Carla) Davis; grandchildren Dana (Steve) Heingier, Brett (Amy) Michel, Lori Compliment, Matthew (Lacey) Davis; 13 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; and many nieces and nephews.


Goodwin-Sievers is honored to be entrusted with the care of Mrs. Davis. Visitation will be held Friday, October 20, 2023, at 524 Broadway St. from 4-8pm and Saturday, October 21, 2023 from 10am to service time. The funeral service will be held at 11am with burial at Memorial Park immediately following.
