Jeanette Thompson Tiek, 91, passed away peacefully the afternoon of June 29th, 2022 at Williamsburg Senior Living, her home for the last three years in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, with family members by her side. She was the daughter of Claude and Dolly (Shields) Thompson. Jeanette was born September 6, 1930, in Bicknell, Indiana. She grew up and attended school in Bicknell and this is where she met her future husband, Dick. Highschool sweethearts, they married in 1951 and were a devoted couple for 64 years. They moved to Vincennes, Indiana in 1961 and raised their two children, Steve and Susan. While Dick was a teacher at Lincoln High School, Jeanette was a stay at home mom who was an accomplished seamstress, excellent cook, and a fearless card player. They both loved sitting on their front porch and visiting with family and friends. In the winter they became snow birds and traveled every year to Florida with a close group of friends. They also enjoyed vacationing and visiting with their children and grandchildren. A few years after Dick's passing in 2015, Jeanette moved from Vincennes to Baton Rouge to be closer to her family. She handled the move with grace and made many new good friends at the retirement center who took her in as one of their very own. She was especially fond of one of her caregivers, Zane Stewart, who cared for her lovingly over the past two years. Survivors of Jeanette include her son; Steve Tiek and his wife Cindy, daughter Susan Maher and her husband Bob; grandchildren, Patrick Tiek, Bridget Tiek (Greg Dupluis), Jaclyn Ronan (Ryan Ronan), Danielle Maher (Colby Ruel), and great grandchildren, Evangeline and Guinevere Dupuis, Levi Tiek, and twins Brayden and Hayley Ronan. Preceding Jeanette in death is the love of her life Richard (Dick) W. Tiek; parents Claude and Dolly Thompson; and brother Ernest Thompson. A graveside service for Jeanette will be held Monday, July 11, 2022 at 1:00 at Memorial Park Cemetery, 919 Willow Street, Vincennes, Indiana. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Disabled American Veterans. Goodwin-Sievers is honored and privileged to be entrusted with the care of Jeanette.
