Jeffrey Smith

Jeffrey A. Smith, 68, of Washington, Indiana, went to his Heavenly home on Tuesday, May 30, 2023, at 5:00pm with his family by his side. He was born on January 21, 1955, to the late James R. Smith Sr. and Betty L. (Huey) Smith, in Daviess County, Indiana. Jeff was a 1973 graduate of Washington Catholic High School. He then obtained his bachelor's degree in business finance from Indiana University in 1977. He was a member of Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church and was strong in his faith. Jeff loved to play cards, especially Euchre and poker. He loved to garden and was a retired master gardener. He also enjoyed landscaping and had done many residential and commercial jobs throughout the years. He loved flowers, the outdoors, people, and also volunteering at St. Vincent DePaul in Washington any opportunity he had. Jeff is survived by his brothers, Michael J. Smith of Loogootee, and Mark D. Smith (Kathy) of Washington; his sister, Mary J. Edmiston of Washington; nine nieces and nephews; ten great nieces & nephews; 2 great-great nieces, and his best friends, Don & Loretta Kendall. Jeff was preceded in death by his parents, James and Betty, and his brother, James R. Smith Jr. Visitation for Jeff will be held on Monday, June 5, 2023, from 4:00 - 7:00pm at Goodwin-Sievers Funeral Home, 2020 State St., Washington, Indiana 47501. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Tuesday, June 6, 2023, at 10:00am at Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church in Washington, with Father Paul Ferguson as celebrant. Interment will immediately follow in the Glenco Cemetery in Montgomery, IN. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church.
