Jera Larkins

Jera L. Larkins, 71, of Owensville, IN passed away March 6, 2020 at I.U. Health in Indianapolis. She was born June 4, 1948 in Princeton, IN to the late Earl Woods and Wanda (Sims) Woods. Jera graduated from Princeton High School in 1966 and earned her Associates in Accounting. She married Jesse Larkins, the love of her life, November 1, 1969. Jera worked at H&R Block in Carmi, IL as a tax consultant and owned and operated Larkins Produce. She loved to garden and grow produce. Jera and Jesse enjoyed operating produce stands in Mt. Carmel, IL and Newburgh, IN. They also participated in the Farm to School Produce program sponsored by St. Mary's Hospital. Jera raised harness horses and was a long-term participant in Indiana's horse racing industry. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. Jera was a special woman that many loved and will greatly miss. She was preceded in death by her parents. Jera is survived by her husband of 51 years, Jesse Larkins; children Jessica (Brian) Barnes, Angela Larkins, and Martie (Tracy) Larkins; grandchildren Haylee and Dylan Barnes; siblings Marsha Curl, Carol (Charles) Jenkins, and Wesley (Susan) Woods; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Holders Funeral Home is honored and privileged to be entrusted with the care of Mrs. Larkins. Visitation will be March 11, 2020 at Holders Funeral Home from 10a-1p with funeral at 1p. Mike Douglas will be officiating with interment at White Church Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to Harness Horse Youth Foundation.
