Jerry Gegenheimer

Jerry W. Gegenheimer, 83, of Vincennes, IN passed away June 29, 2022. He was born in Portland, IN to the late Waldo and Dorothy (O'Brien) Gegenheimer on March 29, 1939. Jerry graduated from Redkey High School. He continued his education by attending Ball State University for his undergraduate and ISU for his Masters. Jerry married, the love of his life, Kay (Denney) Gegenheimer on September 3, 1960. He worked for Vincennes University for 30 years, the majority as Vice President of Student Services. Jerry was known for his endless knowledge of sports and his love for the Cleveland Browns and Cleveland Indians. He enjoyed traveling the world with his wife, reading non-fiction, finding a good meal, and talking with friends. Jerry truly never met a stranger and could talk to anyone. He was a loving father and doting husband. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Jerry was preceded in death by his wife Kay Gegenheimer; son Jay Gegenheimer; and sister Joann Rees. He is survived by his daughters Laura (Daryn) Barker and Julie (Mike) Prather; grandchildren Daniel (Hannah) Barker, Ashlyn (Matt) Salyer, and Kelle Prather; and many nieces and nephews. Goodwin-Sievers is honored and entrusted with the care of Mr. Gegenheimer. Visitation will be held at 524 Broadway St. Vincennes on July 6, 2022, from 4pm-7pm and July 7, 2022,from 10am -11am. A funeral service will be held July 7, 2022, at 11am with live streaming available and an entombment at Memorial Park Cemetery following. Memorial donations can be made to the Jay W.
