Joe White

April 22, 1939 — June 5, 2022

Joe D. White, 83, passed away at 9:30 am on June 5, 2022, at Good Samaritan Hospital. Joe was born on April 22, 1939, in Vincennes, IN and he was the son of Esco William and Theresa (Carey) White. Joe married Diana K. Hedden on May 28, 1961. Joe was a member of Wabash Community Church and a former member of the Hadi Shrine and Masons. Joe retired from the Vincennes City Fire Department after 26 years of dedicated service. His primary purpose on the planet was to harass and/or embarrass both friends and strangers (close friends and family had it the worst). Joe enjoyed playing cards, fishing, painting, old western movies, reading books on political and WW II history, motorcycles, NASCAR, and his trips to Florida to visit the beach. He also loved tinkering and was lovingly referred to by his grandkids as a "painter and a fixer". Most importantly though, Joe enjoyed spending time with his wife, kids, and grandchildren. Survivors include his wife, Diana White of Vincennes, IN, daughters, Cynthia K. Cardinal and her husband Tom, Lisa Lynne Luckenbill and her husband Gregory, son Chris D. White and his wife Zhang Yu of Dallas, TX; his grandchildren, Thomas Joseph "TJ" Cardinal, Jr., Amanda Lynne Ellerman, Amanda E. Wingert, Meagan L. Luckenbill, Mahala Milligan, Christophe D. White, Jaden M. White; and his great grandchildren, Leo Wingert, Lucy Wingert, Molly Wingert, Avery Luckenbill, Kifer Stevens, and Kylee, Brantlee, Paislee and Weslee Ellerman. Joe is preceded in death by his parents, Esco and Theresa White, and his brothers, William E. and Gerald W. White. Friends may visit with Joe's family from 11:00 am until the hour of service time of 1:00 pm on Saturday, June 11, 2021 at Goodwin-Sievers Funeral Home, 524 Broadway, Vincennes, IN 47591. Pastor Dale Biehl and Larry Howerton will officiate, and Joe will be laid to rest in Memorial Park Cemetery. Online memories may be sent to Joe's family and friends at www.goodwinsievers.com. The White family has requested memorial contributions be made to The National Parkinson's Foundation in Joe's name. Goodwin-Sievers Funeral Home is privileged and honored to be entrusted with the care of Joe.
