John Andrew Cunningham, a beloved member of the Vincennes community, passed away on his 78th birthday, March 5th, 2024, at Good Samaritan Hospital surrounded by his family in the town he was born in, Vincennes, IN. He was born on March 5th, 1946, to his loving parents Myles and June (Tislow) Cunningham. John will always be remembered by his community for his devotion to work, and passion for life.
As a graduate of Vincennes Lincoln High School's class of 1964 and Indiana State University in 1968, John pursued his career as a driller for Green Construction Company. His dedication and hard work made him an invaluable member of the coal industry. He also worked for Gemtron/Schott for over fifteen years.
His legacy lives on through his children: Amy Tolliver and her husband Chad of Vincennes, IN, Ty Cunningham and his wife Jamie of Newburgh, IN, Dusty Cunningham of Vincennes, IN, John Casey Cunningham of Vincennes, IN and James Colby Cunningham of Vincennes, IN, as well as his grandchildren, Luke Tolliver, Ali Cunningham, Ashton Cunningham, Hannah Cunningham, and Bentley Eastwood. John is preceded in death by his parents, Myles and June Cunningham.
John was baptized at First Christian Church, and found solace in his community and in his faith. He was also an active member of the Harmony Society, showcasing his commitment to philanthropy.
A passionate sports enthusiast, John found joy in cheering for his favorite team, the IU basketball team, and watching various sporting events. His love for the outdoors extended to his well-maintained landscaping and gardening, activities that brought him great happiness.
A celebration of John's life will be held at 7:00 pm on Tuesday, March 12, 2024 at Goodwin-Sievers Funeral Home, 524 Broadway, Vincennes, IN 47591. Friends of Johns's may visit with his family from 4:00 pm until the hour of service time on Tuesday at Goodwin-Sievers Funeral
