John Doades

John Henry Doades, passed away on Saturday, December, 17, 2011 at Medows Manor East in Terre Haute, Indiana. He was born February, 29, 1916 in rural Knox County to Elmer and Minnie (Peach) Doades. He married Edna Witsman on November 2, 1939. They had two children; Beverly Doades Hettich and her husband Donald and Kenneth Doades and his wife Patricia. Also surviving are three grandchildren; Karen Hettich Brown, Teresa Hettich Courto and her husband Steve, Donald Hettich Jr. who is deceased and his wife Lisa. Six great grandchildren; Max Brown Jr., Sara Courto Williams and her husband Nolan, Lindsey Hettich, Jesse Courto, Makayla Hettich, Alex Brown and one great great grandson Jakob Williams. John spent his life working as a carpenter and farming. He also enjoyed playing his guitar and singing gospel music. His greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren. After retirement John and Edna moved to Mt. Carmel, IL where they enjoyed several years attending Gospel Kingdom Church. They also spent time with the AARP and Senior Citizens groups. Funeral services will take place at 12:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 21, 2011 at Goodwin Funeral Home, 524 Broadway with the Rev. John Peach officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.
