John, known by family and friends as “Jack”, peacefully went to be with the Lord on February 19, 2025. Jack was born May 15, 1936, in Knox County, IN to Clarence and Alma “Edgin” Wampler. He is survived by his younger siblings, Albert Wampler and Anna May Welton both of Vincennes. Jack worked with his hands from a young age, carrying a theme for the duration of his life; from farming in boyhood, being a volunteer firefighter for Johnson Township, working alongside family with Edgin Construction, being a part of Montgomery Ward until they closed to ultimately retiring after working several years with John Lane Builders. Jack and his late wife Dolores (Pat) Wampler, whom he married May 19th, 1984, were active members in Indiana Presbyterian Church, where he served as an elder, trustee and a choir member. At home, Jack enjoyed gardening, woodworking and baking; all of which he shared with his family and friends. Acts of service was Jack’s most prominent love language.
Jack enjoyed quality time with family, assisting with building projects, attending ball games, graduations, weddings, traveling to visit family. He will be deeply missed. He is survived by one son, John Robert Wampler and wife Carol of Vincennes and four daughters: Diana Yockey of Vincennes, Debra Bigler of Rowlett, TX, Suzi O’Bryan and husband Michael of Palm Coast, FL and Sue Ann Smith and husband Anthony of Vincennes. Jack cherished his grandchildren; Michelle Holscher and husband Ryan of Vincennes, Tim Wampler of Vincennes, Whitney Hill and husband Andrew of Vincennes, Heather Bigler, Jeremy Bigler and wife Julie, and Zach Bigler all of McKinney, TX, Shane Arthur of Roswell, GA, Shawn Arthur and wife Margret of Marietta, GA, Erin Martin of Palm Coast, FL, and Jaime Smith of Cartersville, GA and Jeff Smith and wife Cammie of Evansville, IN.
