John Perry

John T. Perry, 84, of 8352 S. Petersburg Road, Monroe City, passed away at 2:02 pm Friday January 15, 2015 at Amber Manor in Petersburg.He was born May 20, 1931 in Pike County to Abrem G. and Dessie (Martin) Perry.John farmed his whole life and was a member of the Monroe City First Church of God. John served in the Marine Corps during the Korean War where he served on the USS Tarawa aircraft carrier in which he was a hydraulic mechanic on fighter planes. He enjoyed building things while spending time in his shop.Surviving is his wife, Shirley (Wilson) Perry whom he married on April 23, 1955; his daughter, Melanie Campbell and her husband David of Plainfield, Indiana; and two grandchildren, Casey and Collin Campbell.Preceding him in death were his parents, three brothers, and two sisters.Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Tuesday, January 18, 2016 at the Monroe City First Church of God with Rev. Mark Nielson officiating. Burial will be in the Walnut Hill Cemetery in Petersburg. Visitation will be from 4-7 pm Monday at the Monroe City First Church of God.
