John Richard "Dick" Bloom

John Richard (Dick) Bloom, 80, of Vincennes, IN, passed away on Thursday, July 4, 2024, at 11:30pm with his family by his side at Bridge Pointe Heath Campus in Vincennes.

He was born on March 6, 1944, to the late John M. and Marjorie B. (Hoover) Bloom in Vincennes, IN at Good Samaritan Hospital.

John was a 1963 graduate of Lincoln High School. Following high school, he attended Business School before being drafted. After being drafted, John served his country proudly in the US Army and was on active-duty service during the Vietnam War.

He worked for 36 years at the United States Post Office as a mail sorter before his retirement. John was a member of the Bicknell Golf Club, Cypress Hills Golf Club (formerly the Vincennes Golf Club) and the American Legion Post #73 in Vincennes. In his free time, he enjoyed the outdoors, whether it be hunting or fishing.

Survivors of John include his sister, Judy A. Fischer; his nieces, Sandra (Dan) Davis, and Lori (Gene) Williams; his nephew, Jeff Harding; and his great-nieces and nephews, Billy Davis, Jessica Davis, Kristie (Jeremy) Sylvester, and Kaitlyn Williams.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Marjorie, and his brother-in-law, Steve Fischer.

Visitation for John will be held on Tuesday, July 16, 2024, from 11:00am – 1:00pm at Goodwin-Sievers Funeral Home 524 Broadway St., Vincennes, IN 47591. Following the conclusion of visitation, a funeral service for John will begin promptly at 1:00pm with Pastor Jeff Shick officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Vincennes Shop with A Cop. Donation envelopes will be provided at the funeral home.
