John William Wilz Jr. of Martin County, entered into eternal rest on November 23, 2022, John was born in Washington, Indiana on October 26, 1954, to the late John William Wilz and Wilma Jean (Gray) Wilz, he was a graduate of Washington High School. John took pride in working hard and found his passion in the trades of carpentry. He was well known in Martin and surrounding counties for his quality of work and the owner of Wilz Construction. He genuinely cared about the homeowner. Helping design and build a quality home or space they loved. His work and big heart filled his life with many wonderful friends whom he loved dearly and loved him. When he was able to relax and get away from work he loved going to Daytona Beach, Florida, cooking and hosting parties, and chilling in the hot tub. He loved his family, friends and the "the love of his life" Rechel more than anything else. When in his presence your heart was always full of happiness. John left an impact on everyone he met; he will be deeply missed by many. Survivors include his wife, Rechel (Embry) Wilz, brother, Mark Wilz, sister, Sue Jones, son, Bob & Mandy Wilz, daughter, Janea Drescher; his grandchildren, John William (Willie) Wilz, Bryce & Autumn Wilz, Megan (Wilz) & Derek Mumm, Treavor Kneip, Brandon & Tyra Wilz, Kyla Wilz & Ethan Hopkins, Dylan Fuqua, Marley Fuqua, Braleigh Wilz, Christian Drescher, Mason Drescher; his great grandchildren, Oliver Schneider, Ellis Mumm, Parker Mumm, Paisley Hopkins, Memphis Craven, Cooper Craven, and Cali Craven. John is preceded in death by his mother, Wilma Jean (Gray) Wilz, father, John William Wilz, daughter, Jennifer Wilz, son, Shane "Ope" Wilz, sister, Kimberly (Wilz) Combs, brother, Kim Wilz, and his nephew, JJ Jones. There will be a celebration of life service held on April 15, 2023, at the Loogootee VFW with times announced as it gets closer to the event.
