John Wissel

John Edward Wissel, 89, passed ay at 8:16 am on May 6, 2016 at Eskenazi Hospital in Indianapolis, IN. John was born on August 28, 1927 in Homer, IL the son of Raymond and Edith (Ailes) Wissel. John was of the Catholic faith and served his country in the United States Army during WW II and the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He worked in construction for several years and was an avid hunter.Survivors include his sons, James Wissel of Albuquerque, NM, Eric Wissel of Carlisle; brothers, Joseph Wissel of Daleville, AL; four grandchildren and four great grandchildren. John was preceded in death by his parents, and three brothers, Ray, Paul and Bob Wissel.Funeral services for John will be held at 1:30 pm on Thursday, May 12, 2016 at Goodwin Funeral Home, 524 Broadway with Rev. David Fleck officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Friends may visit with John's family from 5-8 pm on Wednesday, May 11, 2016 at the funeral home.
