Johnnie Jeffress

Johnnie Windle (Wink) Jeffress, 81, passed away at 12:30 pm on Monday, September 22, 2015 at Good Samaritan Hospital. Wink was born on January 30, 1934 in Gary, Texas the son of W.J. (Buddy) and Naomi G. (Haynes) Jeffress. He married Rossye Lee Davis on January 22, 1954 and she preceded him in death on September 21, 2011.Wink had worked in carpentry, road construction and the oil fields and retired from Blackhawk Crane and Rigging in Gillette, WY in 2001. Following retirement he moved to Oaktown, IN. Wink was an ordained Deacon and member of Ridgecrest Baptist Church. He loved to hunt, fish, camp, and tell stories. He was a Boy Scout leader for several years and enjoyed bowling in a league with his wife. Above everything he enjoyed mostly being with his family. He made many new friends during his brief residency at Colonial Assisted Living.Survivors include his daughter, Gwen Music of Soldotna, AK; son, John Jeffress of North Glenn, CO; daughter, Donna Ross of Gladewater, TX; daughter, Brenda James and her husband Keith of Vincennes; daughter, Ronda Stewart and her husband Randy of Caledonia, MI; brother, Morris Jeffress of Tenaha, TX; sister, Yvonne Pierce of Gary, TX; sister, Gladys Essery of Carthage, TX; sister, Jeannie Sims of Hughes Springs, TX; brother, Ted Jeffress of Gillette, WY; fifteen grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren and one on the way. Wink was preceded in death by his parents, wife and siblings, Ollie Bell, Mary Ann, Ronald (Buster) and Donald (Jeff).Funeral services for Wink will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, September 26, 2015 at Ridgecrest Baptist Church with Pastor Walker Hatton officiating. Burial will follow in Oaktown Cemetery. Friends may visit with Winks family from 4-8 pm on Friday at Goodwin Funeral Home, 524 Broadway.
