Joseph Detty, Sr.

Joseph E. Detty, Sr. of Vincennes, passed away Feb. 13, 2013, at St. Mary's Hospital in Evansville, IN. Joe had worked at Prestolite, and then worked as a bartender at the VFW and the Knights of Columbus. He was an avid poker player. During the Korean War, Joe served in the Air Force. Born Sept. 28, 1930 in Vincennes, he was the son of Chauncey and Inez (Steimel) Detty. They preceded him, as well as his wife, Norma (Corn) Detty, whom he wed on Aug. 18, 1956, and who passed away on Jan. 1, 1983; a brother, John Detty; a sister, Ann Hillard; and one grandchild. Surviving are his children, Sue Allen of Bicknell, IN, Gwen O'Brate of Jasper, IN, Kathy Gimber of Bloomington, IN, Kenny Detty of French Lick, IN, Steve Detty of Kansas, Brian Detty of French Lick, IN, Janet Detty of Vincennes, and Joe Detty, Jr. of Birdseye, IN; nineteen grandchildren; and twenty-four great-granchildren. Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, at 1:00, at Goodwin Funeral Home, 524 Broadway, with Ron Barnes officiating. The family will receive friends on Saturday, from 10:00
