Joseph L. Hatton, 81, Vincennes, passed away Feb. 17, 2012 at Good Samaritan Hospital. Joe was a farmer and a cattleman, and always used Allis Chalmers equipment. A member of the Bruceville Christian Church, he had served as an elder, deacon, and board chairman. Other memberships included the American Legion and Bruceville VFW Post #7615, where he served as quartermaster for many years. From 1952 -1954 he served in the US Army, and was stationed in Germany. Born Nov. 8, 1930 in East Chicago, IN, he was the son of Roy O. & Bonnie Ruth (Bowers) Hatton. They preceded him. Survivors include his wife, Robertine (Goodwin) Hatton; daughters, Gayle (Royce) Huffer of Vincennes, Penny Hatton (fiance' Gary Strader) of Bruceville, IN, Cindy (Rick) Compton of Bruceville, IN, and Kellie (Charles) Kaiser of Bruceville, IN; sisters, Gladys Lamb of Bicknell, IN and Mary Ruth Michaelis of Vincennes; a brother, John O. Hatton of Vincennes; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and 1 soon to be great-grandchild. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 21, at 11:00 at Goodwin Funeral Home. The family will receive friends on Monday, from 4:00-8:00. Interment will be in the Royal Oak Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Palmyra Township Fire Dept. or the Pine Haven Children's Ranch. Online condolences may be sent to the family through goodwinfh@sbcglobal.net.
