Joseph Melvin

Joseph D. Melvin II, of 118 S. 13th Street, Vincennes, passed away Feb. 1, 2011 at Good Samaritan Hospital. He was born Dec. 9, 1951, in Vincennes, IN, to Joseph & Dorothy (King) Melvin, and was preceded by his father. Joe had been a deputy with the Knox Co. Sheriff's Dept. and then became a Vincennes City Policeman. He later worked at the Wabash Valley Correctional Facility, and retired from Lowe's. Joe enjoyed being on Facebook and playing farmville. His other hobbies included fishing, playing cards, and eating out. Surviving is his mother, Dorothy Melvin of Vincennes; a son, Joseph (Amy) Melvin III and their children, Joshua & Ashley of Wheatland, IN; sisters Barbara (Michael) Early and Donna (Virgil)McGavic, both of Vincennes; nephew Virgil (Angel) McGavic II and their children, Zak niece Tonya (J.R.) Sutton and their daughter Jaclyn; and friends/cousins Tiffny Berry & Charles Like of Vincennes. The family will receive friends on Monday, Feb. 7, from 4:00 - 7:00 pm at Goodwin Funeral Home.
