Joy White

Joy Joan (McCord) White, age 92, passed away peacefully at Good Samaritan Hospital on November 8, 2022. She had been a resident of Colonial Assisted Living for the past 5 years. She is preceded in death by her husband Gerald (Jerry) Wayne White, four brothers, Jesse (Junior), Bruce, Wallace, David Joe, and two sisters Mary Ethel and Frances. Joy was born in Decker, IN and had lived in Union City, TN before returning to Vincennes in later life. She worked for many years at Brown Shoe Company in both Vincennes and Union City. Although she had no children of her own, she had many nieces and nephews, great and great-great nieces as well as great and great-great nephews she was fond of. There was a very special love she had for her nieces Lisa Luckenbill, Cindy Cardinal and sister-in-law Diana White who spent countless hours assisting Joy with her health care needs and who made sure she was always included in the many family gatherings that were held on holidays and birthdays. The bond that niece Ora Jean McCord Gillespie, as well as her nephews Richard and Chris White and Randall Allen shared with Aunt Joy was very special to her and she will be missed dearly by them. Joy was a member of St John's Episcopal Church. She will always be remembered as the sweet Aunt who loved her family, "sometimes" having a Bloody Mary after church on Sundays and watching her daytime TV shows and enjoying flowers on her birthday, Valentine's Day, and Easter. There will be a void in all our lives now that she is no longer with us, but we are at peace knowing she and Jerry are now back together for all of Eternity. God Bless you Aunt Joy. There will be a graveside service held on Monday, November 14 at 1:00 pm at Memorial Park Cemetery in Vincennes. Goodwin-Sievers Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with the care of Joy.
