Judith Ann DeSanto (Crocker)May 2, 1938 aEUR" June23, 2012Our beloved wife and mother went home to be with the Lord. She is survived by her husband, Rev. John DeSanto, daughters Jean DeSanto Campbell, Joanna DeSanto Lobbezoo and Janice DeSanto McKaughan, grandchildren Zachary Campbell, Dorian Satterlee, Tempest Zoblisien, and great-granddaughter Lilian Satterlee. She is also survived by her sisters Lyndia Kuykendall and Jane Everett, and her brother Gary Crocker. Judy was a 1958 graduate of Evansville's St. Mary's School of Nursing, summa cum laude, where she was President of her class for all 3 years. Judy practiced as a Registered Nurse until she retired in 1993. Kind and patient as a nurse, she took good care of her patients, and worked many a night shift.A wonderful pianist, Judy played piano and organ as part of her ministry in service to the Lord, in churches alongside her husband. She also enjoyed playing for family sing-a-longs with those big Reader's Digest songbooks full of old favorites.Another vital part of her Christian witness was preparing meals for fellowship with friends and those in need, opening her home graciously to all who came to break bread. She enjoyed searching for new recipes to try on willing friends and family members. After her retirement, Judy delighted in researching her family's roots thru genealogy, and found some interesting characters in her family history, including one woman who ran a stagecoach stop. Judy was a member of several genealogical societies which took her to conferences and research libraries across the Midwest and Texas. Judy had a great love of reading her whole life. A voracious reader, she read all sorts of topics, and especially loved history and suspense books. If she was awake, she had a book in her hand.A Celebration of Life service, officiated by her nephew Rev. Michael Barbera, will be held on Saturday, June30, 2012 at 3 p.m. at Bethany Presbyterian Church 702 N. 8th St. , Vincennes, Ind. Judy's wishes were that in lieu of flowers, donations could be made to the Higher Bound Youth Ministry, 300 N. 5thStreet, Vincennes, Indiana 47591.
