Karen Marie Jones, 73 of Washington, joined the heavenly choir at 8:47 am Thursday, February 18, 2021 at St. Vincent in Evansville, surrounded by her family.Karen's life began February 16, 1948 in Washington, IN. to the late Aubrey Cloyd and Alma Marie (Wildridge) Steen. She graduated in the first ever class of Barr-Reeve in 1966. On February 16, 1973, Karen married the love of her life, the late Stanley Michael Jones.Through their twenty earthly years together, they were blessed with three children: Larissa Marie, Shaya Laurane, and Travor Michael. After serving Daviess County for many years, she retired from the County Assessor's Office in 2014.Karen was a life-long member of Bethany Christian Church where she shared her love of music through the playing of the piano and singing. Her passion for her Lord and music led her to participate in leading the children's choir, the Happy Side Singers, Walk to Emmaus, the Providence Women's Singing Group, and many other ensembles where many memories and friendships were made.Karen is survived by her children: Larissa & Denny Porter, Shaya & Jared Smith, Travor & Stephanie Jones. She was blessed to see the faces of her five precious grandchildren: Lindsee and Layton Porter, Adalyn and Kason Smith, and Sutton Jones. All reside in Daviess County.She was loved by her siblings: Kenneth (Shirley) Steen of Washington and Annalee (Steen) Buse`of Harrisonburg, VA.; her Jones siblings: Darrell (Carolyn) Jones, Marsha (Jones) Bauer, Mark (Tanya) Jones, Sue (Jon) (White) Clark, and Kay (White) George. She was an aunt to nine nieces and six nephews.Preceding her in death are her parents and husband; mother-in-law, Constance (Connie) Jones-White; fathers-in-law, Bert Jones and Elbert White; and brother-in-law, Keith Buse`Visitation will be held Thursday, February 25 from 3-8 p.m. and on Friday, February 26 from 11 a.m. till the time of service; all taking place at her beloved Bethany Christian Church. Karen's celebration of her homegoing will be Friday, February 26, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. with her burial being at Bethany Cemetery.In lieu of flowers, donations can be made toward her two loves: church and family- Bethany Christian Church and/or her grandchildren's college 529 plans which she established through Alex Knepp at German American Bank.The family has entrusted the arrangements to Goodwin-Sievers Funeral Home.
