Elizabeth (Betty) Belcher, 99, of McMurray, Pennsylvania, formerly of Monroe City, Indiana passed away July 5, 2016. She was born April 13, 1917 the daughter of Clyde and Ursula (Arthur) Wallace, who lived near Glendale, Indiana at that time.She attended Barnes one room school for 8 years, then attended Glendale High School graduating in April 1935. She entered nurses training at Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes, Indiana and graduated in 1938. She did general duty and private duty nursing. The last 27 years of nursing were spent as office nurse for Dr. Herbert O. Chattin of Vincennes, Indiana.On June 2, 1939 she married John W. Belcher who passed away May 30, 1998. Others proceeding her in death were her parents, brothers Arthur, William, Joseph, Watis and a sister Edythe Bolden and a daughter-in-law Beverly.Those surviving are son John Allan of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and his wife Jeanne; grandsons Jason of San Jose, California, Jeremy and wife Shelly of McMurray, Pennsylvania; great granddaughters Katherine Rose and Grace Elizabeth of McMurray, Pennsylvania; and one sister, Martha Ruth Francis of Greenville, Indiana.Betty lived most of her life in God's Country - Indiana! But she moved to Pennsylvania at the young age of 95 to be closer to her son, grandson, and the joy of her days, her two great granddaughters, all of whom will miss Grandma unbelievably. But now she's made her final move home to her mansion.Funeral services for Betty will be held at 10:30 am Saturday July 9, 2016 at the Monroe City Church of God with visitation from 4-8 pm Friday at the church also. Burial will be held in the Memorial Park Cemetery in Vincennes. Memorial contributions may be made to the Monroe City First Church of God Building Fund or the Gideon's Society.
