Larry Nelson Klemann, 79, passed away at 11:23 am on January 21, 2022, at his residence. Larry was born on April 22, 1942, in Evansville, IN and he was the son of Nelson and Juanita (Bridges) Klemann. Larry graduated from North High School in Evansville IN in 1961. Attended University of Evansville and graduated from Vincennes University. Larry worked in Respiratory Therapy at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville until May 1970 when he moved to Vincennes to be the Director of Respiratory Therapy at GSH. He was there until 1985. He started an outpatient respiratory clinic for Coal Miners and also did respiratory therapy in nursing homes until his retirement in 2006. Larry had polio in 1947 and it affected him in the later years of his life. Larry was deeply involved in the Lung Association both State and National Level. He served as State President for several terms. He was also involved in his church, St Peter Lutheran. He served as school board member Treasurer, Elder, and President. He served as board chairman of the building of our new Parrish Hall. Larry married Rosalie Vollmer Klemann on August 19, 1967, at St Peter Lutheran church. They have been happily married for over 54 years. Their union welcomed three children. Lori Kirchoff, Jeffrey (wife Kara), and Kristen (soon to be wed to Procopio Palazzolo). They also have 7 grandchildren. Cole Kirchoff, Zach Kirchoff, Jourdan Klemann, Collin Klemann, Dylan Maeder, Ryan Maeder, and Alfonso Palazzolo. Larry is also survived by his niece Joy Butler Harbin, great niece Hope Griffin, great nephew Ronald Dean Butler, and his godchild Diana Butler Norton. Larry was preceded in death by his parents, stepfather Clinton Otey, sister Carol Sue Klemann, mother and father-in-law Wilbur and Clara Vollmer, sister and brother-in-law Ronald and Marcie Butler, and Tim and Gregory Butler. Friends may visit with Larry's family from 9:00 am until the hour of service time of Noon on Thursday, January 27, 2022, at St. Peter Lutheran Church, 6990 S. Decker Road, Vincennes, IN 47591. Pastor Nathan Rastl will officiate, and Larry will be laid to rest in Memorial Park Cemetery. Larry's family wants to thank GSH Hospice for his care this past month.
