Laurie Kelchner (Tackett), 63, peacefully passed away at 6:40 P.M. on March 3, 2018 at Good Samaritan Hospital with her children by her side. She has lost a six-month battle with cancer. Laurie was born March 27, 1954 in Bethlehem, PA to Lawrence Kelchner and Nancy Truelove Kelchner.She graduated from Freedom High School and Northampton Community College in Bethlehem, PA. She was an administrative assistant at the Mine Safety and Health Administration and a secretary for the Holmes Safety Association in Vincennes. Laurie formerly was employed as an aide to the Home Economics Dept. at Lincoln High School.Laurie treasured her time spent creating memories with her children and her two grandsons, who she referred to as her "cowboys." Playing ball with her grand dog Moose, spending time at dinner or at a movie or shopping with friends filled her life with joy. She enjoyed cooking, trying new recipes, baking, crafting, and working in her yard.Laurie was preceded in death by her father, Lawrence. She is survived by her mother, Nancy Truelove Kelchner of Canton, GA; daughter, Jourdan Foley and her husband John of Vincennes; son, Drew Tackett of Corydon, KY; sister, Kristen Hester and her husband David of Woodstock, GA; brother, Larry Kelchner and his wife Robin of Hellerton, PA; and two grandsons, Luke and Wyatt Foley of Vincennes. She also leaves behind numerous loving relatives and friends.Laurie was a beautiful ray of sunshine and could light up a room with her presence. "Now she is a bright star in the night's sky and will be watching over those who were near and dear to her heart."A Celebration of Life Service will be held at the Community United Methodist Church on Hart St. in Vincennes on April 14, 2018 at 11:00am for family and friends. In lieu of flowers donations in Laurie's memory may be made to Good Samaritan Hospital Hospice, 520 South 7th St., Vincennes, IN 47591 or the Vincennes Pet Port.
