Lawrence Brent Marchino, 75, of Monroe City, passed away at Good Samaritan Hospital on March 10, 2015.He was born September 27, 1939 in Vincennes, to Curtis Jr. and Clara (Trent) Marchino and was raised by his grandparents, Curtis Sr. and Marie Marchino.Brent graduated from Monroe City High School in 1957. A lifelong Democrat, he served on the Precinct Committee for 12 years and was elected County Chairman in 1984.Brent was a lifelong farmer and truck driver, and was co-owner of Marchino Farms until his retirement. His memberships included the Harmony Society for over 50 years; the Moose Lodge in Lawrenceville; Sons of the American Revolution; Quail Unlimited; Old Northwest Corporation; and The Johnson Group; and received the Soil and Water Conservation Chairman's Award in 2012. He was an avid Quail Hunter, known as Bird Hunter Extraordinaire by his friends; auto racing fan; reading; and attending sporting events of his grandchildren.Survivors include his wife, Sharron Hershey Marchino, whom he married on March 16, 2002; his children, Bret Marchino and his wife, Susan; Amy Gay , and her husband, Tracy, Melinda Nowaskie and her husband, John, all of Vincennes, a step daughter, Cathy Lapkovich and husband, Rick, of Southport; his grandchildren, Nicholas Claycomb and his wife, Kendra, Chase and Kayly Marchino; Jacob, Mason, and Daniel Gay; Tim Lapkovich and his wife, Catherine; Kevin and Dustin Lapkovich; his great grandchildren, Eva and Emerson Claycomb, and Macy Rae and John Calvin Lapkovich; one brother, Heath Marchino and his wife, Kay; a brother-in-law, Morris Willis and his wife, Lynda; and several nieces and nephews.Preceding Brent was his first wife, Judith (Willis) Marchino whom he married on June 15, 1962 and passed away on July 23, 1992; parents, grandparents, and one great granddaughter, Faren Claycomb.A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday March 13, 2015 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Rev. David Fleck officiating. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3-8 pm Thursday at Goodwin Funeral Home.
