Lela Deitz

Lela Mae (Street) Deitz, 83, passed away at 1:30 pm on March 22, 2021 at her residence. Lela was born in Martin County on September 20, 1937 the daughter of Luther and Dorothy (Abel) Street. She married Vincent Deitz on December 31, 1953 and he preceded her on May 21, 1991.Lela was a member of Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church and she became an LPN in 1992 working as a staff nurse at Washington Nursing Center and later as Nurse Manager at Emerald House in Washington. Her greatest joy in life was family, children, grandchildren, and her faith. She also enjoyed playing games with her family, especially euchre.Survivors include her children, Theresa Matthews and her husband Eddie of Washington, Vincent Deitz II and his wife Mickey of Washington, Deanna Deitz of Washington; her grandchildren, Shane, David, Vincent III, Sarah, Simon, Gabriel, and Stella; great grandchildren, Katie, Hannah, Emily, Nick, Gracie, Wyatt; sisters, Melba Buckley of Duluth, GA, Midge Helderman of Oaktown, IN, Sharon Street of Washington, and Marlene Vesmarovich of Rockmart, GA. Lela was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Vincent Dale Deitz, daughter, Eve Annette Deitz, and her siblings, Delmar, Bonnie, Monna, and Nelson.Friends may visit with Lela's family from 11 am until 1 pm on Friday, March 26, 2021 at Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church, 315 NE 3rd Street, Washington, IN 47501. A Mass of Christian Burial will start at 1:00 pm on Friday at the church with Rev. Paul Ferguson and Yvonne Evans celebrating.
