Letha Downey

Letha J. "Jean" Downey, 94, passed away at 1:20 am on October 10, 2019 at The New Willow Manor Nursing Home. Jean was born on November 18, 1924 the daughter of Louis and Minnie (Myer) Meyer. Jean married Winton Downey on November 6, 1948 and he preceded her in death on November 1, 1995.Jean had worked for Brown Shoe Factory and later Universal Scientific, she also was a member of St. John United Church of Christ and the American Legion and VFW auxiliaries. Jean was also an excellent seamstress doing various types of alterations for many people and loved to walk and watch golf on television.Survivors include her daughter, Janice Affolder and her husband Doug of Vincennes; grandchildren, Jason Affolder of New Orleans, LA and Jamie Affolder of Terre Haute, IN. Jean was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Winton Downey, brothers, Norman, Nolan and Morris Meyer and sister Mabel Cornoyer.Graveside services will be held for Jean at 11:00 am on Saturday, October 12, 2019 at Memorial Park Cemetery. Jean will be laid to rest next to her husband in Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made in Jean's name to the Vincennes Pet Port, 1128 River Road, Vincennes, IN 47591 or the Knox County Humane Society.
