Lisa Ann Foncannon Kilmartin, 64, passed away at Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Evansville on November 4, 2020. The cause of death was complications from COvid-19. Lisa was a dedicated sister and aunt, a career educator an avid quilter, a loyal friend, and a lifelong Christian.Born in Vincennes on August 22, 1956, Lisa was the daughter of Horace A. Foncannon, Jr. and Nancy (Stevenson) Foncannon. She is survived by her brother Robert Foncannon and his wife Kristine and their childre Zachary, Alexander, and Reece.Her nephew Ryan Foncannon and his wife Tara, her niece Heather Corey and her husband Mark Corey and grand-nephews Mason Corey and Koby Corey. Her brother Scott Foncannon preceded her in death.Lisa graduated from Vincennes Lincoln High School in 1974. She attended Indiana University for undergrad and received her master's degree from Indiana State University. She started her teaching career in Houston, Texas and eventually settled in Western New York. She taught for over twenty years in various school systems and programs in and around Jamestown, NY. In 2003, she moved to Evansville, Indiana to be closer to her family. She retired from Evansville Vanderburgh School Corporation in 2019 after serving in various teaching positions, mostly at Central High School.Lisa's avocation was quilting. She belonged to the Raintree Quilters Guild of Evansville and the Sew Monday Friends. She loved traveling to quilting shows and participating in quilting retreats. She formed many friendships through her quilting and never a met a quilt shop she did not like.Lisa's strong faith also led her to The Connection Church. Her church family meant the world to her and was a constant source of strength for her.The family would like to thank the dedicated nurses and staff at Deaconess Gateway Hospital. Whose tireless work to often goes unnoticed, especially in these times. We would also like to thank Pastor Darrell Rice and Lisa's many friends who reached out to her and our family during her illness.Due to Covid-19 . . . and Lisa's wishes, we will be having a family only graveside service.
