M. Jane (Cardinal) Trent, 89, Vincennes, passed away at 11:18 p.m. on Wednesday, July 6, 2011. Born July 25, 1921, in Vincennes, she was the daughter of Pearl (Smith) and Anthony L. Cardinal, Sr. Her mother passed away when Jane was three and she was raised by her father and step-mother, Anna Cardinal.Jane was a homemaker and mother who raised her five children. She also helped her husband, Paul, at Trent Auto Sales. She was a Girl Scout leader, an avid IU and Vincennes Lady Alices Basketball fan and loved NASCAR. She was a member of Franklin Heights Christian Church, where she was baptized March 9, 1939, and was involved in Sunday School serving as secretary for many years , member of the Praise Team and women's council and other various church activities as a volunteer. She also served as a Kids Hope Mentor. She enjoyed working in her yard and with her flowers. She was an active participant in the Relay for Life, leading the E-Racing Cancer Team, started in memory of her late husband, Paul E. Trent. She will be remembered by the many meals and baked goods she lovingly provided for her family and friends.Survivors include her children, Paula Blythe and her husband David of Vincennes, Lucia Howe and her husband Lawrence "Toby" of Pensacola, FL, Cindi Holloway and her husband Bud of Vincennes, Tyler Trent and his wife Tricia of Vincennes and Karim Held and her husband Tom of Vincennes; grandchildren, Brian Jones, Amber Jones, Morgan Foster, Tai Blythe, Jason Trent, Jeremy Trent, Kristen Phillips, Katie Phillips, Kenzie Held and Madison Held; great-grandchildren, Jordan Jones, Jacy Jones, Daylin Jones, Boone Foster, Emmett Blythe Ransom, Jaelyn Trent, Livia Trent, Mason Trent and Camden Osborne; sister, Maxine Wehry of FL; brothers, Ed Cardinal of WY, Jack Cardinal of IN, Bruce Cardinal of TN and Tony Cardinal of FL.Preceding Jane in death were her mother, father and step-mother; husband, Paul E. Trent whom she married July 5, 1941 and he passed away January 11, 1996; sister, Dort Teising; brothers, Woody Cardinal, Sr., John Cardinal, Bill Cardinal and Dick Cardinal.Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 9 at 10:00 a.m. at Franklin Heights Christian Church, 1509 Franklin Dr., with Wayne Unger officiating. Interment will take place in Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family on Friday from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Goodwin Funeral Home, 524 Broadway St. and also on Saturday from 9:00 until the service time at the church.Memorial contributions may be made to Franklin Heights Christian Church, Relay for Life or Good Samaritan Hospice.Online condolences may be sent through www.goodwinfamilyfh.com
