Marilyn Hurt

Marilyn Sue Hurt, 84, of Owensville, IN passed away April 28, 2022. She was born in Fort Branch, IN June 3, 1937 to the late Lonnie C. Wilkerson and Clara S. (Irvin). Marilyn married the love of her life, Larry Allen Hurt Sr., September 9, 1960. They were blessed with three children Melody, Stacy, and Larry Jr. who described her as a wonderful mother that always gave great words of encouragement. She worked as a purchasing clerk at Gibson General Hospital for 20+ years before retiring. Marilyn will be remembered for her amazing cooking and baking, raising beautiful flowers, working hard to get things done right the first time, and being a loving mother and wife. She enjoyed watching cooking shows on TV, fishing with Larry, and watching horse races. Marilyn was known to be savvy with new technology and having that artsy touch when creating things. She was an avid animal lover, especially to her own dogs. Marilyn is loved by so many and will be dearly missed. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Larry Hurt Sr.; siblings Louis Wilkerson Sr., Jerry Wilkerson, Silvia Williams, Bernice Wilkerson, and infant twins Lonnie Earl and Bonnie Pearl. Marilyn is survived by her children Melody (Joe) Sparks, Stacy Hurt, and Larry (Carrie) Hurt Jr.; grandchildren Amber Garrison, Songa (Aaron) Byrns, Nathane Ralph, Jon Martin, Kasey Kueber, Makala York, Tiffany Gehl, and Lacy Fowler; and 15 great-grandchildren. Holder's Funeral Home is honored and privileged to be entrusted with the care of Mrs. Hurt. Visitation will be held Wednesday, May 4, 2022 at Holders Funeral Home from 10-1p. Funeral will be held Wednesday 1pm with Bob Douglas officiating and burial at Walnut Hill Cemetery.
