Marilyn Kay Holloman of Evansville, formerly of Vincennes, passed away at 2:28 pm Sunday, June 9, 2019 at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville. She was born September 20, 1953, in Vincennes, Indiana to Ransom and Ruth (Cochran) Holloman whom preceded her in death.Marilyn was a 1971 graduate of Lincoln High School Class and graduated from Vincennes University a few years later. She loved animals and had some very special rapport with them. Dogs who might have been unfriendly with others wanted to be held by her and wanted to kiss her face. Marilyn volunteered for many years at the Red Cross offices in Evansville. The voice of the Red Cross, the person who answered the phones, handled calls, and found the right staff person to talk to. She loved the people and mission of the Red Cross and looked forward to her three afternoons there each week. She was a member of the YMCA and worked out there regularly and faithfully for years. Even as she began to have physical problems, she went to the pool to work out in ways that did not hurt her knees. She attended the North Park Wesleyan Church for the past few years and was part of a group of friends who went out to eat after the services.Until physical constraints prevented it, visited her sister in California at least yearly, where she loved nothing more than to walk at the edge of the ocean, taking in the sun, smell of saltwater, fresh air, vastness and peacefulness. Marilyn enjoyed watching the Travel Channel and other learning Channels on TV. But her biggest joy was in befriending the people and dogs and cats in her apartment complex, most especially Coco, who lives with Larry, her owner, across the hall. She is survived by her sister, Carolyn WarmSun, and Carolyn's husband, Larry Cooke, who live in Oakland, California. Despite the years of difference in their ages, and the fact that they lived far from each other for most of Marilyn's life, the sisters shared a unique and close bond of love and compassion. Marilyn is also survived by her aunt, Roberta Cochran, and cousins Kathy McKee, Debbie Mosier, and Mike Cochran and their families of Washington, Indiana, and cousin Brenda Mischler and her family of Newburgh.Marilyn's ashes will be taken to California to be scattered in the ocean she loved so much.
