It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Marilyn Kay VanLue, a remarkable woman who was a beacon of love, warmth, and joy to those who had the fortune of knowing her. Born in Wheatland, Indiana on October 8, 1942, the daughter of Aldai and Olive (Frankum) Walters. Marilyn spent her life cultivating a legacy of love and kindness that will continue to inspire those she left behind. Her life was a testimony to her faith in God, and she demonstrated as a member of Calvary Apostolic Church in Lawrenceville, IL.
Marilyn was a devoted mother, sister, and friend, known for her vivacious spirit and unyielding dedication to her family. She spent her career in the service of others as an Environmental Services Worker at the Hendricks Regional Hospital in Danville, IN reflecting her selfless nature and commitment to her community. Marilyn found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She was a creative soul who enjoyed painting on her iPad, crocheting, and crafting with her sister Norma. She treasured time spent with her brother Darrell and his wife Mid. She also loved fun shopping trips and vacations. Her zest for life was infectious, her laughter was a melody that will continue to echo in the hearts of those who loved her.
Marilyn leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion in her sons Jeffrey Allen VanLue and his wife Melinda of Beavercreek, OH, Jerrell Gene VanLue and his wife Tracy of Danville, IN, and Jimmy Dewayne VanLue and his wife Melissa of Silsbee, TX; grandchildren, Jennifer, Beth, Jeffrey, Jessica, Jay, Kayla, Gavin, Dalton; fourteen great grandchildren; her sister Norma Miley and her husband Dale of Vincennes, brother Darrell Walters and his wife Mildred of Decker, and brother-in-law Monie Hill. She is preceded in death by her loving parents Adlai and Olive Walters, her husband Jimmy VanLue, her son James Adlai VanLue, grandson Zachary VanLue, and her sister Shirley Hill.
A visitation will be held on Monday, February 5, 2024, at 11:00 am EST at the Calvary Apostolic Church, Route 250 E, Lawrenceville, Illinois, 62439. A funeral service will follow at the same location at 1:00 pm EST with Rev. Jeff VanLue officiating. Marilyn will be laid to rest next to her husband Jim in Memorial Park Cemetery.
