Marilyn O. Summers, 94, passed away August 31, 2016. She was born to Everett and Floy Osmon, June 25, 1922 in Epsom, Indiana. She worked at Indiana Bell Telephone Company in Vincennes for thirty years, retiring when the Vincennes office closed.She was a member of Telephone Pioneers of America and Communication Workers of America. A talented seamstress, she made many wedding dresses, prom dresses, costumes and beautiful outfits. She could always be found in the kitchen at North United Methodist Church, helping to prepare many delicious meals. Later, she was an active member of Community United Methodist Church, where she was a member of United Methodist Women and the quilting group. For many years, she helped with 4-H and girl scouts. She was a member of Xi Delta chapter of Beta Sigma Phi.She married Benjamin J. Summers on July 25, 1942 and they were married sixty-five years until his passing on June 20, 2007. Surviving Marilyn is one daughter, Marcia Carter and her husband Pete; one granddaughter, Heather Black, one grandson, Michael Carter and his wife Stephanie; two great grandchildren, Kevi Black and Bronx Carter all of Vincennes; two sisters, Shirley Chappell of Louisville, KY and Leah Graham of Glenn Allen Virginia; and several nieces and nephews. Marilyn was preceded in death by one sister and two brothers. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, September 3, ,2016 at Memorial Park Cemetery with Rev. Ray Tromley officiating. Burial will follow. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Community United Methodist Church. Goodwin Funeral Home, 524 Broadway has been entrusted with Marilyn's final arrangements.
