Marilyn Updike

June 12, 1927 — December 19, 2010

Updike, Marilyn Joyce (Fredenburgh), age 83, of Winter Park, Florida, born in Lockport, N.Y., raised in Hagerstown and then Annapolis, MD., and graduated from Annapolis High School. A job she loved was working for John Buckely, Cdr.U.S.N. at the Naval Academy in '45'46'47, where she met her husband. Preceded in death by her husband, Archie J. Updike, LCdr USN (ret) in 1967, and then by her son David H. Updike in 2000. She is survived by three daughters, Elizabeth (Jeffrey) Day of Indianapolis, IN., Suzanne Updike of Singapore, and Carol Goodson of Franklin, TN., and five grandchildren, Jeffrey P. Day, Grafton E. Day, Kristin E. Goodson, Hunter J. Goodson and Lily M. Updike. Our Mother was a lifetime member of United Methodist Women; a member of American Registry of Medical Assistants; a member of Gold Star Wives of America; and a member of American Legion Auxiliary. Services will be held at St. Andrew's United Methodist Church in Winter Park, Fl 11:00 Thursday, January 6, 2011, and graveside services will be held at 2:30 Wednesday, December 29, 2010 at Greenlawn Cemetery with Rev. Ray Tromley officiating. Goodwin Funeral Home in Vincennes, IN is handling arrangements.Please consider Hospice of the Comforter and The American Cancer Society in your charitable contributions.
