Marion Swaby, 101, of Vincennes, passed away July 12, 2014, at the New Willow Manor Nursing Home. Marion retired in 1968 from the Vincennes University Maintenance Dept. He had also farmed. Following his retirement, Marion spent many years in his woodworking shop doing crafts. He was a 1932 graduate of Linton High School. Marion was a member of the First Baptist Church in Vincennes, and a former member of the Indian Prairie Baptist Church near Carlisle, IN. Born April 23, 1913 in Centralia, MO, he was the son of Walter and Gertrude (Jones) Swaby. Preceding were his parents; his wife, Carrie (Hinkle) Swaby, whom he married April; 2, 1949, and who passed away Dec. 17, 2008; and a sister, Opal Robbins. Surviving is a niece, Anna Ruth (Wiseman) Walters, and her husband, Paul, of Freelandville, IN; and his nephews Jim, Jack, and Paul Robbins of Frankfort, IN. The family will receive friends from 10:00 - 11:00 on Wednesday, at Goodwin Funeral Home, 524 Broadway. The funeral service will begin at 11:00 at the funeral home. A committal service will be held at 2:00 Wednesday, at Indian Prairie Cemetery. Donations may be made to the First Baptist Church.
