Mary Allen

Mary A. Allen, 89, of Vincennes, IN, passed away February 24, 2019, at GentleCare Nursing Home.Mary was a member of Jehovah's Witnesses. She enjoyed door to door field service, so she could teach people about the Bible. Her favorite hobbies were feeding birds, planting flowers, and sewing.Mary had worked at Prestolite Battery Factory for 20 years. After there she went to work at Perdue. She retired as a home health care aide.Mary is survived by her children, Mariann Stafford of Bicknell, IN, Jack Gabbart of Bruceville, IN, Rhetta Bowman and her husband, Ed, of Vincennes, IN, Senga Blair and her husband, DeWayne, of Texas, and Debra Neighbors and her husband, Randy, of Vincennes, IN; her brother, James Norris of Cave City, KY; 16 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren.Born July 30, 1929, in Loogootee, IN, she was the daughter of Joseph and Effie Mae (Melvin) Norris. Her parents; her husband, Donald Allen; her children, Helen Pritchard, Earl Gabbart, and Reanna Green; his sister, Gertrude "Janie" Kidwell; and her brothers, Raymond, William, and Joseph Norris preceded her.Friends may visit with the family from 4:00 - 6:00 on Wednesday at Goodwin Funeral Home. Her service will begin at 6:00 on Wednesday at the funeral home. Following the service, Mary will be cremated.Online condolences may be sent to the family through goodwinfamilyfh.com.
