Mary Cel Byrer

Mary Cel Byrer, 83, of Loogootee, IN passed away December 19, 2023. She was born in Montgomery, IN on November 22, 1940, to the late Virgil and Ellen (Kane) Clements. Mary Cel graduated Montgomery High School in 1958. She married the love of her life, Roy Byrer, on February 23, 1963. In her early working years, Mary Cel worked for Daviess County Hospital as a nurse’s aide before becoming a homemaker where she cared for her husband and children.
Mary Cel was a member of St. John's Catholic Church in Loogootee and the Knight of Columbus Women's Auxiliary. In her free time, she enjoyed playing bingo, solving crosswords, mushroom hunting with Roy, and spending time with her family. Mary Cel will be deeply missed.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband Roy Byrer.
Mary Cel is survived by her children Doug (Elisa) Byrer, Teresa "Terri" (Troy) Smith, Brenda (Shane) Roush; grandchildren Bryan Byrer, Maggie Byrer, Trey (Mackenzie) Smith; great-grandchild Hayden Smith; siblings Jane Hart, Ana Mae Williams, Thomas "Tom" Clements.
Goodwin-Sievers is honored to be entrusted with the care of Mrs. Byrer. A private family graveside will be held at St. Peter Cemetery.
