Mary Charley

Mary Ellen Charley, 82 of Logansport, IN and formerly of Oaktown, passed away on January 20, 2013 at Millers Merry Manor in Logansport, Indiana with her family by her side. Mary was born on September 28, 1930 in Washington, DC the daughter of William Benjamin and Gladys (Michael) Severe. She married Kenneth Charley on December 3, 1954 and he preceded her in death on January 10, 2011.Mary was a telephone operator in Washington, DC. She was a member of the Oaktown United Methodist Church. Mary and her husband were founding members of Wish Upon a Star and was Secretary as well. She was on the Board from 1985-2006. Mary also an avid bunko player and a life- long New York Yankee fan. She loved IU Basketball, shopping and most of all spending time with her children and grandchildren. Survivors include daughters, Cindy White and her husband Mike of Logansport, IN; Chris Stoffers and her husband Patrick of Ellettsville, IN; Linda Owens and her husband James of Vincennes; Sandra Huebner and her husband Jim of Francisco, IN; Cheryl Tackett of Bicknell, IN, fourteen grandchildren and several great grandchildren and great- great grandchildren; and one brother William Benjamin Severe of Manassas, VA. Mary was preceded in death by her husband and one son Kenneth Ronald Charley.Funeral services for Mary will take place at 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 25, 2013 at Oaktown United Methodist Church with Jim Berry officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may visit with Mary's family on Thursday from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Goodwin Funeral Home, 524 Broadway and from 10:00 a.m. until service time Friday at the church.
