Mary M. Faulkner passed away August 1 at The Villages of Oak Ridge in Washington surrounded by her loving family. She was born March 3, 1941, to the late Walter and Frances (Welton) Vieke. Mary was a graduate of Saint Rose Academy. She married her high school sweetheart Richard Faulkner on January 2, 1960 at St. John's Catholic Church. They started their married life in Goldsboro, N.C., where Richard was serving in the United States Air Force. While in North Carolina, Mary gave birth to their first daughter, Janice. After Richard was discharged, they moved to Evansville and the couple welcomed their second daughter, Lori. In 1964, the family moved back to Vincennes where their son Joseph was born. Mary worked at Indiana Bell as a telephone operator and Jules Hair Fashions as a bookkeeper and receptionist. She retired from the Vincennes Community School Corporation in 2005 after 30 years as a reading aide at Vigo Elementary School. Mary was an active member of St. John's Catholic Church where she helped with their bereavement dinners, church picnics and newsletters. She was also a member of the Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary. She is survived by her husband, Richard Faulkner, three children and their spouses Jan and Joe Steffy of Bruceville, Lori and Bret Devers of Vincennes and Joe Faulkner of Vincennes and siblings Louise Ray of Kokomo, Walt and Linda Vieke of Vincennes, Joe and Norma Vieke of Kokomo and Margaret Sparenberg of Terre Haute, Grandchildren and great-grandchildren include: Ryan and Rachel Faulkner, Hunter Darrow, Alecea Campbell, Shyan Kelly, Jarek Kelly, Brittney Meek, Abbey Potts, Bryson Moore and Morgan Steffy. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until noon on August 19 at St. John's Catholic Church with a Mass immediately following. Father Tony Ernst will officiate. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that any gifts be made to the charity of your choice in Mary's memory. Goodwin-Sievers Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with the care of Mary.
