Mary Gaddy

Mary L. Gaddy, 93, of 150 Fox Ridge Drive, passed away at 9:08 a.m. on July 28, 2012 at her residence. Mary was born on November 15, 1918 in Lawrence County, IL the daughter of James H. and Florence (Smith) Taggart. She married Marion Gaddy on August 17, 1945 in Naples, Italy, and he preceded her in death on June 4, 1991. Mary was an Army Air Corps Flight Nurse treating patients in France and England during WW II. She was a member of First Christian Church where she was very active in the Lydia Howell Guild, the Fun Bunch and production of the church newsletter as an office Angel. Family and friends especially remember her generous gifts of home-made hard candy. Survivors include her son Jim Gaddy and his wife Cathy Bowen of Wynnewood, PA; grandchildren, Taggart Bowen-Gaddy, Evan Bowen-Gaddy, Nathan Fulton, Zac Fulton; sister, Jean Caldwell of Lawrenceville, IL; sister-in-law, Dorothy Taggart of St. Francisville, IL; and six nieces and nephews. Mary was preceded in death by her husband, brothers, Wayne and Fred Taggart and Sister Ruth Spidel. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. EDT on Wednesday August 1, 2012 with the Rev. Rick Grant officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may visit with Mary's family from 10:00 a.m. until service time on Wednesday.
