Mary Louella Hacker, 85, went to her heavenly home Sunday, May 31st, 2020 at 6:20 pm surrounded by her loved ones.She was born February 16th, 1935 in Vincennes, Indiana to Lloyd and Nora (Thais) Witsman.Mary was the very definition of matriarch. She was the backbone of the family and led by example. She was instrumental in starting Hacker Plumbing in 1965 with her husband Delbert, managing the office, all while raising four children.Her children grew and produced 8 beautiful grandchildren who were the sparkle in her eye. There isn't anything she wouldn't do for them and many fun times were had with her family gatherings, vacations, pool parties, and shopping trips. She and Delbert traveled the world and had many adventures. You never had to worry about where you stood with her because she would tell you. You could often find Mary working in her yard and garden as she loved being outside.Mary was a member of the St. John Lutheran Church, serving in many capacities within the church, including on the school board. Her passions were reading and sewing quilts. Ask any of her grandchildren, they can show you theirs.Surviving are her husband Delbert whom she married on December 6, 1954; her children Becky Phillips and her husband Ken, Tim Hacker and his wife Anita, and Sara Atwood, all of Vincennes; her grandchildren Jennifer Meadows and her husband Tony, Jason Phillips and his wife Angie, Kelly Jones and her husband Andrew, Andy Hacker and his fianc Loni, Kelsie Hacker and her significant other Nick Dismukes, Bailey Hacker and her significant other Calvin Powell, Jacob Atwood, and Hannah Atwood; along with her great grandchildren Mattye Meadows, Camdyn Meadows, Gracie Phillips, and Brody Phillips; along with her sisters Vera Linneweber of Washington, and Pat Brown of Vincennes.She was preceded in death by her parents Nora and Lloyd Witsman; her sisters Phyllis, Lela, and Donna; her son Mark Hacker; and son-in-law Gus Atwood.Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 pm Friday, June 5, 2020 at St. John Lutheran Church with Rev. Ron Maxwell officiating. Burial will follow in the Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11:00 am until the time of the service. Memorial contribution may be made to the St. John Lutheran Daycare. Goodwin-Sievers Funeral Home is honored to serve the family of Mary Hacker.
