Mary Lou Holman

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Mary Lou Holman, a beloved mother, on August 6, 2024, at the age of 95. Mary Lou was born on August 11, 1928, in Vincennes, IN, to Albert and Sophie (Like) Anderson and peacefully left this world, leaving behind cherished memories in the hearts of those who knew her.


Mary Lou had a deep love for her family, raising her four boys with her late husband Glen, whom she adored. Mary Lou's affection for her family extended beyond words and was evident in the way she lived her life.


Mary Lou had a passion for gardening, spending countless hours tending to her plants and vegetables. She found joy in harvesting her produce and then canning and storing them for the winter months. Her green thumb was truly remarkable, and her garden was a testament to her dedication and love for nature.


Apart from her gardening endeavors, Mary Lou enjoyed taking care of her home, ensuring it was always a warm and welcoming place for her family and friends. Her nurturing spirit shone through in everything she did, from maintaining her house to cooking meals with love and dedication.


For over 35 years, Mary Lou dedicated herself to serving as a cook at South Knox School, where she shared her warm smile with the students and staff. Her delicious meals brought comfort and joy to many.


Surviving Mary Lou are her children, Jerry Holman, Steve Holman (Kim), Donald Holman (Tina), and James Holman (Debra); grandchildren, Cheryl, Carey, Ryan, Bob, ALex, Erica, Travis, and Jonathan. She is preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Sophie Anderson; husband, Glen Holman Jr.; and sister, Alberta Elmore.


Visitation for Mary Lou will be held Monday, August 12, 2024 from 12:00 pm until the time of service at 2:00 pm. Pastor Trevor Murry will be officiating. Burial will follow at Hamline Cemetery. Goodwin-Sievers Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with the care of Mary Lou.
