Mary Lou Kerns, 90, of 2797 SR 61, Vincennes, passed away at 10:00 a.m. Friday, March 28, 2014 at Good Samaritan Hospital with her family at her side.She was born March 28, 1924 in Vincennes to Walter L. and Ruth (Pennington) Johnson.Mary Lou was a member of the Indiana Presbyterian Church in which she was very active. She enjoyed helping during the summer picnic and also quilting in the church group. Her memberships included the Fort Nightly Club, Friends of the Library, and the Town and Country Homemakers Club. She received the Homemaker of the Year Award, had been a 4H leader, and was a graduate of Monroe City High School.Surviving are her children, Brenda (Tony) Sage of Vincennes, Brent (Karen) Kerns of Brownsburg, and Ronald (Jody) Rushton of Plano, TX; 9 grandchildren, and several great grandchildren.Preceding her in death were her parents; first husband, John William Rushton; Second husband, Charles Kerns; a sister, Glenn Hankins; a brother, Louis Johnson, and a granddaughter, Kyla Sage.Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 31, 2014 at Goodwin Funeral Home with Rev. Larry Langer officiating. Burial will follow in the Fairview Cemetery. Friends may visit from 9:30 a.m. till the service time Monday.
