Mary Small

Mary Jane Small, 93, passed away at 12:20 pm on January 20, 2020 at Franciscan Health in Mooresville, IN. Mary Jane was born on February 27, 1926 in Robinson, IL the daughter of Hoyt L. and Leah Mae (Bolds) Spade. She married Boyd Small on March 10, 1975 and he preceded her in death on April 20, 2001.Mary Jane was a telephone operator for GTE and Indiana Bell, switchboard operator for Executive Inn and a caregiver in later years. She was a member of Kirk Chapel United Methodist Church (Robinson, IL), Eastern Star and IL Twin Association. She enjoyed volunteering, and helping kids at RSVP. Mary Jane also loved her family and loved to write and receive letters.Survivors include her daughter, Jane Birch (Thomas) Camby, IN; special niece, Janice Atkinson (Dave) of Peoria, IL; grandchildren, Sid Tomey (Lori), Rob Tomey (Dana), Cindy Perry, Tina Martin (Raymond), Natalie Smith (Josh), Nathan Burcham (Chelsea), Stacey Pouncey (Seth), Jennifer Qualls; fourteen great grandchildren, nine great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Mary Jane was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Boyd Small, her son, Robert Hoyt Burcham, her twin sister Betty Jane Miller and three brothers, Ernest, Harold and Robert Spade.Friends may visit with Mary Jane's family from 10:00 am until the hour of service time of noon on Friday, January 24, 2020 at Goodwin Funeral Home, 524 Broadway, Vincennes with Pastor Jim Conlin officiating. Mary Jane will be laid to rest next to her husband Boyd in Kirk Chapel Cemetery in Robinson, IL.
