Mary Stafford

Mary Lou Stafford, 81, formerly of Wheatland, IN, passed away Oct. 12, 2013, at Hillside Manor in Washington, IN.She had retired from Ewing Printing. Prior to that, Mary Lou had worked at the Knox County Public Library.Born Nov. 11, 1931, in Wheatland, IN, she was the daughter of Levi Porter and Lula (Myers) Noble. Her parents preceded her. Also passing away before her was her husband, Merlin Stafford, whom she married June 11, 1956 and who died Nov. 25, 1999; and her sisters, Grace Montz and Clara Noble.Surviving are her children, Shawna (Jim) Hart of Loogootee, IN and Jonathan L. Stafford of Washington, IN; a brother, Lee Roy Noble of Monroe City, IN; sisters, Dorothy Lay of Vincennes and Georgia Noble of Vincennes; granddaughters, Beth (Brocksmith) Melvin of Florida and Ashley (Brocksmith) Guiterrez of North Carolina; and her great-grandsons, Declan Melvin and Ethan Gutierrez.Private family services were held Tuesday at Walnut Grove Cemetery.Donations in her memory may be made to the Knox County Public Library.
