Mary Steininger

Mary Evelyn Steininger, 94 passed away at 2:25 am on February 12, 2022, at Bridgepointe Health Campus. Mary was born on January 8, 1928, in Vincennes and she was the daughter of Ernest and Lydia (Bertin) Gouverneur. Mary married Harry on October 30, 1948, and he preceded her in death on December 7, 2004. Mary retired from Hamilton Glass as an accounting clerk and was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. Mary was an RSVP volunteer and she enjoyed quilting, knitting, making afghans, and fishing with her husband Harry, and she also loved planting flowers. Survivors include her children, Theresa McCabe and her husband Mike of Moores Hill, IN, John Steininger and his wife Sherry of Vincennes, Jim Steininger of Vincennes; daughter-in-law, Pam Steininger of Vincennes; her grandchildren, Jodie McQern and her husband Brett, Tracy Walker and her husband Brandon, Chris Steininger, Jr. and his wife Mendy, Amy Campbell and her husband Derek, Scott McCabe and his wife Stacey, Beth Legge and her husband Adam, Jason Steininger, Shelly Lane and her husband Dean; and several great grandchildren. Mary is preceded in death by her parents, son, Chris Steininger, brother, Carl Gouverneur sister, Olive Sanders, grandson, Ryan Lee and her great granddaughter, Evelyn Sarah. Friends may visit with Mary's family from 9:00 am until 11:00 am on Friday, February 18, 2022, at St. John Catholic Church, 803 Main St., Vincennes, IN. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow the visitation at 11:00 am and will be celebrated by Rev. Tony Ernst. Mary will be laid to rest in Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery next to her husband Harry.
