Mary Straw

Mary Lou (Compton) Straw, 90, of Owensville, IN passed away Friday, August 23, 2019 at her home. She was born May 1, 1929 in Owensville, IN to the late Lewis and Lula (Caldwell) Compton. Mary married Elvis O. Straw in 1946, they were married for 42 years before his passing. She retired from Gibson General Hospital after 30 years of services in Housekeeping. Mary was known for her hard work, delicious cooking, quick wit, and saying what she thought. She enjoyed reading and always keeping her house spotless. Mary is proceeded in death by her parents Lewis and Lula Compton; husband Elvis Straw; son Michael Ray Straw; son-in-law Ralph Wade; siblings Catherine Moore, Charles Compton, and Loren Compton; grandson-in-law Junior Klusmeier; and great-great grandson Curtis Robinson. She is survived by her daughters Linda Wade and Janet (Gary) Jones; daughter-in-law Debbie Baker; sister Judy Sharp; 8 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; and 10 great-great grandchildren. Holder's Funeral Home is honored and privileged to be entrusted with the care of Mrs. Straw. Graveside services will be held 2p.m. Wednesday, August 28, 2019 at Owensville Cemetery with Jack Dillion officiating.
