Mary Turpin

Mary Eloise Turpin, 93, passed away at her residence at 6:00 pm on Saturday, May 25, 2013 with her family by her side. Mary was born in Edwards County, IL on February 3, 1920 the daughter of Harvey E. and Eliza (Kennard) Martin. She married James Turpin and he preceded her in death in 1978. Mary attended First United Methodist Church and was a Nursing Assistant at Good Samaritan Hospital for thirty-nine and a half years. She was also a member of the Fortnightly Club. Surviving are her grandchildren, Jennifer Cardinal and her husband Jim of Vincennes; James Turpin and his wife Hermina of Vincennes; Dan Turpin of Vincennes; great grandchildren, Nathan Smith, Sam and Brett Turpin, and Daisy Cardinal. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, husband, James Turpin, daughter, Earlene Turpin, son, Robert Turpin, sister, Norma Kidwell, and brothers, Wendall and Garnett Martin. There will be no funeral services and Mary will be cremated at her request. Goodwin Funeral Home, 524 Broadway is handling arrangements. Contributions may be made in Mary's name through the funeral home to Good Samaritan Hospital Foundation, Vincennes Pet Port or Knox County Humane Society.
