Matthew Robert Bowman, 49, passed away at 5:14 pm on September 22, 2021 at Good Samaritan Hospital with his family by his side. Matt was born on May 27, 1972 in Vincennes and is the son of Steve Bowman and Pat Willis Buntrock. Matt was a member of The Edge Church, was a 1990 graduate of Vincennes Lincoln High School and received his BSN from Vincennes University. Matt was a Lieutenant with the Vincennes Township Volunteer Fire Department and a Registered Nurse at Good Samaritan Hospital, as well as a Knox County Deputy Coroner. Matt was a lifelong learner and held several certifications related to the volunteer fire department and Good Samaritan Hospital. He also loved photography, traveling, and spending time with his family and friends. Survivors include his mother, Pat Buntrock of Vincennes, father, Steve Bowman and his wife, Merry Kaye of Vincennes, sister, Lisa Bowman and her husband Ben, brother, Jason Flynn and his wife Christy of Vincennes, step-sister, Tara Knuth, uncle, Paul Willis, aunt, Pam Martin; paternal grandmother, Carol Bowman, his nieces and nephews, Cassidy Hendershot and Javon Gilmore, Joey Hendershot Martin and her husband Caleb, Mallory Flynn, Dylan Flynn, Garrett Holscher, Natalee Holscher, and Ellie Bowman. Matt is preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Arthur Bowman, and his maternal grandparents, Robert Willis, step-father, Gary Buntrock, Dee and Robert Pipher, and Robert and Pearl Michels. Friends may visit with Matt's family from 10 am until the hour of service time of 2 pm on Saturday, September 25, 2021 at Adams Coliseum in Vincennes with Pastor Trevor Murry officiating. In lieu of flower contributions may be made to the Matthew Bowman Nursing Scholarship through the Vincennes University Foundation or the Vincennes Township Volunteer Fire Department.
