Michael R. Gardner, 69, of 4089 South State Road 241, Monroe City, Indiana, passed away at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis on September 3, 2012.He was born May 14, 1943 in Vincennes to Charles W. and Mary Marie (McCormick) Gardner.Mike retired as an over the road truck driver and attended the Cumberland Presbyterian Church. An avid dragster racer, he belonged to the Quarter Miler Club.Surviving is his mother, Mary Marie Gardner Stone of Monroe City; his two children, Jimmy and Michaela Rae; his two brothers, Dan Gardner and his wife Martha Ann, and Dave and his wife Martha Jo, both of Monroe City, and several grandchildren and great grandchildren.Also surviving are six nephews, one niece, and seven great nephews.Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, September 7, 2012 at Goodwin Funeral Home with Rev. Dave Parman and Rev. Mark Nielson officiating. Burial will follow in the Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may visit from 4-8 Thursday at the funeral home.
