Michael Lutz

Michael Todd Lutz of Brandon, FL passed away at the age of 55 in Tampa, FL on April 28, 2023. Michael, or Mike as friends and family lovingly called him, was born in Evansville, IN on December 15, 1967, to Jeffrey and Sharon Lutz (Holder). An inquisitive and curious child, Mike found himself majoring in computer technology at Vincennes University where he was a member of the Sigma Nu fraternity. After graduating he moved to Baltimore, MD where he would become a leader in the field of medical laser technology. He traveled the world repairing medical equipment and eventually became a pioneer in the field of optometry where he developed an innovative dry eye treatment device. Though he was a genius in engineering and technology, he will be most remembered for who he was as a man: positive in spirit, compassionate to everyone he encountered, and funny. Mike is survived by his daughter Alexis Lutz (Kayla), his son Christopher Dembeck (Laura), his three beautiful grandchildren Ava, Sam, and Charlotte, as well as his parents Sharon and Jeffrey Lutz, sisters Cheryl Lamoreaux (Bob) and Debbie Lamey (Monty), and aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews who loved him dearly. A Memorial Gathering for Mike will be held Wednesday, May 24, 2023, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Owensville United Methodist Church, 103 South Third Street, Owensville, Indiana 47665, followed by a Memorial Service at 11:00 AM, and internment at Owensville Cemetery. Holder Funeral Home is privileged and honored to be entrusted with the care of Mike and his family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Mike's name may be made to the Colon Cancer Foundation.
